Does it pain your heart to know that people do bad things?
Or worry your sweet innocence that death waits in the wings?
Worry not that harm may come at some unsuspecting time,
or that you may be caught off guard by some unnerving crime.
Just keep your wits about you, watch your flanks and self-protect,
remain steadfast in vigilance and from this don’t defect.
But if by some unseen attack or accidental chance,
you or I should get the nod and have to leave this dance,
don’t be frightened, don’t look back, continue on to strive;
death will come to all of us, so enjoy your time alive.

Extras: I was inspired to write this after experiencing a day of worry that diverted us from our objective. Thinking over the day I realized we had worried a lot about things that were beyond our control and that the worry itself had become the point of oppression.
As I thought about some of the people in my circle I realized we do this a lot. We let fear and concern become the overwhelming elements of our day. We shouldn’t.
Carry on, and enjoy your day. Be safe, but don’t let fear steer the boat.
