Getting up early is good to do
at least that’s what they all say.

But I’m not sure I believe them;
it’s not how I’m starting my day.

My pillow is perfect, my covers are warm
and I seem to be nestled just right,

I’m sure I’d be willing to get out of bed
If I hadn’t stayed up late last night.

I can hear the chores calling and noises outside
and they’re making it hard to ignore,

but I’ve covered my ears and I’m turning away
’cause I’m trying to get one more snore.

So don’t knock on my door or call out my name;
I just don’t want the day to begin…

I’m calling in sick and I’m staying right here,
today is the day I sleep in.
