Three girls went out shopping
to buy clothes for the ball.
Each one wanted something
to earn a look from all.
The first girl bought a gown
that trailed the floor behind.
She was sure it’s beauty
would blow everyone’s mind.
The second girl bought shoes
to dazzle up her feet.
She was sure the party
would think they were so neat.
The third saved all her cash
and did not spend a dime.
She just watched the others
and went to pass the time.
At the ball the first girl
received a lot of praise.
Her dress was quite a hit
and seemed to start a craze.
When the second entered
there were some oohs and ahs.
All who saw her new shoes
would stop to give them pause.
Our third girl was not chic
but had fun all the while.
She was the most popular
because she wore a smile.
