One Dark And Dreary Night

I walked along a sidewalk on a dark and dreary night.
The weather brought a chilling wind that gave me quite a fright.

Shadows seemed to follow me as I quickened up my pace.
My chest began to thump out loud, my heart began to race.

I heard a distant scream and then I thought I heard some groans
and in the glimmer of the moon, I saw a man of bones!

He followed me along my way across the empty street.
I tried to run but couldn’t move; the fear had gripped my feet.

Then I tried to shake him off and turned to get away,
on the street in front of me were zombies in my way!

They limped their way toward me as my lungs filled up to scream.
I felt like I was trapped inside a nightmare of a dream.

I nearly reached my breaking point to watch this dreadful scene
and that is when I realized… ’twas only Halloween!
